Con este proyecto, que supondr\u00eda el segundo ferrocarril electrificado multinacional del continente, se pretende aprovechar el \u00c1rea Continental Africana de Libre Comercio (AfCFTA).<\/p>\n<p>The Citizen informa que est\u00e1 planeado construir, en un per\u00edodo de cinco a\u00f1os, unos 282 kil\u00f3metros de una l\u00ednea ferroviaria de v\u00eda est\u00e1ndar electrificada (SGR). La ruta comenzar\u00e1 en Uvinza (Tanzania), cruzar\u00e1 a trav\u00e9s de la frontera internacional a lo largo del r\u00edo Malagarasi hacia Musongati y llegar\u00e1 finalmente a Gitega, Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>El documento de licitaci\u00f3n indica que los gobiernos de Tanzania y Burundi solicitaron financiamiento del Banco Africano de Desarrollo (BAD) para la construcci\u00f3n del ferrocarril.
